Ben F. Warner, DDS, MD, MS is a tenured professor in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry (UTSD), holder of the Doan-Huynh-Le Endowed Professorship in General Dentistry, and an adjunct professor at Baylor College of Medicine. He directs or contributes to multiple didactic courses and clinical experiences for students in the predoctoral, residency, and international dentist education programs. In addition to academics, he enjoyed over 4 decades of private practice.
His service to organized dentistry includes Chair of the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards, Test Construction Committees for the Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE), the Dental Licensure Objective Structured Clinical Examination (DLOSCE), and the Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT), President-Elect of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry, AGD House of Delegates, Texas and Houston AGD Boards of Directors and Dental Review

Dr Warner is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, Fellow of the Special Care Dental Association, Academy of Laser Dentistry, International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists, Academy of Dentistry International, Pierre Fauchard Academy, National Academies of Practice, and member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He is the recipient of several accolades that include the Alando J. Ballantyne Head and Neck Surgery Award, the M. G. and Lillie A. Johnson Cancer Treatment and Research Award, the George Finley III Foundation Skin Cancer Research Award, the 2024 UTSD Dean’s Excellence Award in the Scholarship of Application, and in 2025 the AGD Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition Award.
His research centers on oral, facial, and neck oncology; interdisciplinary models of collaborative care; innovative behavior-modification strategies; and the integration of mindfulness practices. He is dedicated to enhancing the healthcare experience by promoting compassionate access, particularly for individuals facing frailty due to cognitive impairments, physical limitations, or chronic illnesses.
