Saliva is an underutilized biological fluid with immense potential to revolutionize dentistry through noninvasive, real-time diagnostics. This presentation explores how salivary biomarkers can not only aid dentists in early detection of oral diseases but also bridge the communication gap between dentists and physicians to provide more comprehensive care.
Learning Objectives:
Identify saliva biomarkers and list biomarkers associated with oral and systemic health conditions.
Describe a clinical scenario in which saliva-based diagnostics could support early detection or referral to a medical provider.
Discuss strategies for integrating saliva diagnostics into dental education, patient care or interdisciplinary communication
