This session highlights the vital role of community building in supporting the well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially in restrictive environments. Participants will explore current challenges, learn principles of subversive advocacy and be introduced to the new ADEA LGBTQ+ Advocacy Toolkit. Through collaborative discussion, faculty will share institutional strategies for fostering belonging and leave with practical approaches for promoting identity, dignity and expression within dental education.

Learning Objectives:

Explain the utility of community building in sustaining well-being and outline current challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals, particularly in restrictive environments.
