Externship rotation programs connect dental schools to their greater communities and can act as a bridge to increase access to care. A review of the different models of externship education will be presented and analyzed for their effectiveness in increasing access to care, enhancing student learning, sustainability and ease of implementation. Participants will be presented with a toolkit of actionable strategies to redesign or enhance externship rotations to meet today’s educational, financial and social demands.
